Air System Test
« on: August 13, 2020, 06:14:41 PM »
Does anyone have information on how to get the dash digital section to show up when the engine is not running? I'm trying to do the Air System Test. If you're supposed to do the test with the engine shut down, how do you read numbers that aren't there?

Jeff,
Per the 08 Marquis owners manual the tests require the engine to be running until the air pressure value opens. Doesn't the dash display work when the ignition is on? Would seem that after building up required air pressure you could kill engine and then turn ignition to on to bring up display. You also have the dash gauges.

Steve,
Thanks for the reply. Once the air valve farts and shut down the engine, then turn the ignition back on, the LCD controller display reads "Engine Not Running". The digital dash numbers will not display until I restart the engine. Using the other dash gauges for air pressure are impossible to note a loss per minute. You could lose twenty pounds and not be able to see the difference. Sean wasn't too much help. But, he told me to try and put the ignition in the accessory position and see what happens. He also stated I could install a separate gauge on the air which seems to be a bit redundant.

Perhaps you could upload (to Steve) a copy of your 2008 Patriot Thunder Owner's Manual for the "Coach Assist" section.

It sounds like your 2008 PT has a new style dash cluster.
The 2007 PT and 2008 Marquis'  owners manuals show they still use a physical gauge for air pressure - so your '08 must be the first to get a digital air pressure display.

Jeff,
Do you have a suspected problem with your air system or do you want to run the tests to be thorough? If you have no known or suspected problems, I'd advise to leave well enough alone. Otherwise the simplest approach probably is to install air gauges in both front and rear air systems. (Don't you love Monaco's "better" ideas)  :(

My 07 PT has a small digital screen in the middle of the upper dash which allows you to scroll through a number of different information items, eg. a trip screen, one with temp, fuel, boost, oil, V, and Others which I can’t recall. However one screen is air pressure. And,  I also have the useless gauges

UPDATE:

Jeff .”Does anyone have information on how to get the dash digital section to show up when the engine is not running? I'm trying to do the Air System Test.”

Turn the ignition to on, but don’t start. It’ll come back with engine not running. Then maybe bay door open if that is the case.

Then press the “M” button below the screen and you can cycle through the different options. Obviously mine was not running and it’s been sitting for quite some time, so no air.

Should work for you.

Apologies for upside down pics. Not going to spend time correcting.

Thank y'all for your comments. I was just wanting to do a air system check which is listed in the recommended list in the back of the manual. Problem solved. I did have to let the engine run to keep the gauges active. No loss of air with any of the procedures. Never got low enough to activate the air pumps.
