Prevent-a-freeze not working - 2007 Beaver
« on: November 28, 2020, 12:25:08 AM »
Hi everyone, I have a 2007 Beaver Contessa that I bought in February 2020. I live in Texas and did not have to winterize it last spring. The previous/only owner kept it in a heated building so probably never used the optional Electronic Automatic Winterization option, named Prevent-a-freeze. I went out this afternoon to determine how it worked and to be sure it worked. The problem is that there is no power to the Prevent-a-freeze control panel in the service bay. I got help to figure this out. We applied 12V power to the back of Prevent-a-freeze on each side of the switch, and the valve that selects water pump input from either (1) water from the fresh water tank, or (2) antifreeze from the Prevent-a-freeze antifreeze tank, works. All this to get to my question.

Does anyone know where the 12V fuse is that powers this system?

Thanks,
Reed

Reed,
Check F39 in the Front Electrical Bay. In the fuse list it is labeled "Tank Heaters Option Domestic"

Thanks Steve! I'll go check that today.

If I can't find the problem pretty easily, I may just replace the Prevent-a-freeze valve with a manual valve. Thoughts on that?

I checked the fuse and it was good. With help of a friend, we traced the wires from Prevent-a-freeze panel/switch back under the bus. Guess what, the red power wire was broken. Reattached the wire and all is good! Thanks again to Steve for pointing out the right fuse and for pointing me to the fuse list for the Beaver!
