Replacing RVA switches
« on: June 07, 2021, 05:27:52 PM »
I haven’t yet fiqured out how to post a picture .I’ve got the switches coming, and I can’t seem to get them out . If anyone has ever done this did you need to extend the wires going up to the solenoid, I don’t seem to have enough room to pull the switch plate out far enough to work on the switches . Please email me any information, or here is fine . And thanks everyone I’m getting close to having everything working .

Scott,
The guide to posting and resizing photos is in the Forum Assistance board. It provides step by step instructions.

Scott-

NO Need to Cut Wires! - ALSO: If I remember right; Just below the actual spades on the wire harness there is a White MOLEX connector that can be removed with the switch control panel!

If your having problems pulling out the Jack control panel from the larger panel, the wires are probably zip tied below the panel. I had PLENTY of wire to be able to pull out my panel. Maybe you need to pull the decorative buttons off on the vertical side of the large control panel (tan access panel between floor and horizontal control panel) and remove the panel. from there, you should see several items, but should also see the wiring going to the RVA control panel. Again, that wiring may be zip-tied down with some other wires. Cut those zip-ties and you should be able to pull up the wiring harness for the RVA jack panel (see my first picture).

TAKE A PICTURE OF THE SWITCH WIRING FIRST.

Picture #2 shows the actual Switch from the panel. The switch part numbers are on one side. If you look at Pic 2, just under the top bevel of the switch on both the left and right side- There are two plastic retainer springs. Simply remove the three wires from the back of the switch, and then using a flat head screwdriver- Flatten one of the springs and push the switch out of the face plate. Do the same for the other side. The switch can then be completely pushed out of the face plate.

Pic 3 is of my Facebook post.

The Switches are not specific to RVA Jacks. They are very generic over the counter switches available on Amazon, Ebay, Google Shopping, Mouser, DigiKey ect. You just need to copy off the part numbers printed on the switches, search for them, do a visual confirmation of them an then purchase them. You might notice that my replacements have little arrows and a circle printed in the middle. Otherwise they were exact replacements.

The manual for the RVA jacks are provided in the BAC Coach Assist area. Pay special attention to page 6:  https://www.beaveramb.org/resources/Documents/Technical%20Forum/Coach%20Assist/Equipment%20Manuals/RVA-Leveling-owners-manual1%20(1).pdf

I hope this all helps.

Tomas those pictures are going to be very helpful . I’m replacing both sets , I have a control panel on the passenger side rear of the coach , and also inside next to the driver seat . I should have my switches tomorrow morning and I can finally get after it . I’m really looking forward to getting this done, because I’m pretty sure it’s going to clear up most if not all of my problems with the leveling jacks . How nice would that be to operate them and they work every time . I’m guessing that those switches are at least 21 years old . I’ll be back in here and keep you posted as to how it all turns out . It’s so important to be able to get some advice on something I’ve never done. And I’m going to be able to help out some folks one day .
I’m going to look over the manual you sent very closely so I understand how everything works .
