Antifreeze for 2001 AquaHot AHE-100-015
« on: January 13, 2022, 05:36:02 AM »
Hi all.  Two quick questions.  2001 Marquis Amethyst.  Total newbie to coaches.   Bought my coach in late October, just in time to drive it into warm storage.  Plugged into 50 amp shore power.  Using AuquHot to help heat the coach.

Today I noticed that the antifreeze reservoir was totally empty.  Some confusion as to requiring ethylene glycol or propylene glycol.  AquaHot apparently switched to propylene glycol during that time period.  I thought it was after 2002.  But not sure.  Any help would be appreciated.  Can I pull a sample to see if it’s green?

Second question, one of my docking lights is out.  Anyone know what bulb to use and how to change it.  Access from the back?

Thanks for your help.
Respectfully,

Did you mean AHE-100-01s? if so this may be helpful. I find this site a good reference for issues I've had with my aquahot.

For docking light mine had a couple of set screws accessed from the backside. Once I pulled the bulb and got part number off it I found the replacement easily at local auto parts store.

Thanks Gene for your response.  I am sure you are right that it’s AHE 100-01s.  That totally makes sense.  I think it was just mistyped on my build sheet.

Silly me I’ll just open the radiator cap and pull a sample. Duh.  Guess I wasn’t really thinking about it.  I dawned on me as I looked at the picture that you sent.  The Manuel just says 50/50 antifreeze so I suspect the green stuff.

I’ll look for those set screws and see if I can’t get that fixed.

Thanks again.

Our coach is a 2004 Marquis and its Aquahot is the AHE-100-02S model.  The manual for this model does not specify boiler fluid to be used, although later years' Aquahot models do specify the non-poisonous boiler fluid MUST be used.  Throughout the 02S manual, all it says is to use the poisonous "antifreeze".  The antifreeze can be purchased full-strength and diluted to 50/50 with distilled water or simply buy the premixed 50/50 blend.

Bill Sprague pointed out in a thread several years ago that the antifreeze does not evaporate much but the distilled water does evaporate.  So, when the overflow tank needs a fill, then consider simply adding 100% distilled water.  To be safe, a specific gravity device would tell you if the antifreeze/distilled water solution existing in the tank is "rich" enough with antifreeze to add 100% distilled water.
