Looking for Axle Manufacturer (96 Monterey)
« on: January 23, 2024, 01:31:43 AM »
Long story short having some trouble finding wheel studs for my 96 monterey, talked to beaver part guys they said to check with who makes the axles. Does anyone know who does? Thanks

The front axle is by Westport and the rear is by Eaton as listed in the Chassis manual. Coach Assist has a copy of the 96 Magnum B series chassis manual. The Monterey used the Blue Streak version of the B series chassis.

I doubt the axle manufacturer is going to help much as that axle could have been used with several different brake and hub assembly configurations.
Your best bet would be to remove a stud and measure it to match it up .
Remember the driver side uses left hand threads while the passenger side uses right hand threads these coaches used bud style wheels with spherical ball nuts which are different front and rear.
Your going to find that the parts guys aren't going to have any idea what was used on your chassis as the Magnum chassis was an in house build by the
Safari Motor Coach  company the builder at the time of the Beaver Coaches.

I’m sorry BCS couldn’t help.  Despite their experience with our coaches, they often can’t.

But Eric’s suggestion makes a lot of sense, and removing pertinent L &/or R side studs for measuring or taking to a vendor seems fairly straightforward.

Yes, I have one in my hand. That's the problem, me or any other truck place can't find any vendor for these left hand threaded studs.

World American (Midwest Truck) has a large catalog that has similar studs, starting on its page 24, but you’ll need accurate dimensions for your search.  http://www.mdwparts.com/documents/WA_WHEEL_ATTACH_CAT.pdf

There’s also an extensive “1996 Monterey Parts List” in Coach Assist, under Beaver Equipment Manuals - Misc Info, but I didn’t see identifiable wheel parts there.
