Hello everyone,
I recently had my set bay door hinge separate from the basement door on my 1996 Patriot. A friend who owns a body shop used an expensive auto bonding glue to put it back together plus a couple of spot welds.
Issue with now have, and not just for the wet bay door, are that the black plastic retainer blocks that screw into the top next to the hinge are broken from age and previous owners over tightening. First, is there a source to buy these in the right size? I emailed BCS but got no reply. Second, many of my basement doors slide right and left, causing paint chipping when closing when one door starts closing onto the door next to it. I am guessing this is due to missing and broken retraining blocks.
I tried cutting new ones with a jig saw from leftover starboard marine board I used to remake the wet bay panel on the suggestion of Eric Maclean. But without a jig I can’t make it precisely and when I screwed in the replacement retainer blocks I made the newly repaired wet bay door slid to the side and was hard to close. I applied more pressure thinking it was a stubborn latch but think I partially broke the newly repaired hinge! Dear lord Thank want this fix this right, and fix all the basement doors so they do not slide left to right and cause more and more problems.
Thanks in advance to you wise and skilled teachers here.
