Driver side Slideout Power Shades
« on: May 11, 2022, 08:35:18 PM »
Hello.  The 3 power shades in the slide out behind the driver have stopped working.  Is there a fuse/breaker common to them all that I can check?  The rest of the power blinds in the coach are fine.

Thanks

This morning I heard a buzzing noise in the front of the coach.  I found not was coming from the the front most shade.  I pressed the raise & lower switch a few times and the buzzing stopped. Still none of the blinds worked after that.  I'm guessing there must be power to at least the shade that was making the noise so I have no cue what might be wrong.  If it was the front shade only that made the noise then perhaps the motor is seized but why would that affect the other 2 shades?  Is the power hooked up in series maybe and the problem with the first shade is preventing power getting to the the other 2?  Any ideas would sure be appreciated.

Michael,
Suggest you get a meter or 12v probe
 https://www.amazon.com/JASTIND-Automotive-Extended-Replacement-Indicator/dp/B07Q3622FT/ref=asc_df_B07Q3622FT/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=343362361884&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10416967219229848384&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9010455&hvtargid=pla-745588546775&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=70591845793&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=343362361884&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10416967219229848384&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9010455&hvtargid=pla-745588546775
and determine if you have 12v at each of the motors when the switch is pushed. If no 12v, then check to see if there is 12v coming into the switch. If not, probably a bad fuse. If you have 12v at the motor when switch is pushed you may have a bad motor. If 12v is at the motor even if the switch is not pushed, then the switch is supplying ground. In that case, look for a bad ground supplying the switch.

Thanks Steve I'll do that.  Is the fuse for the motor located in the panel outside  below the drivers area?

MJ,
The drapes are fed by a 15A fuse that powers all the drapes and the fans (bath, toilet, kitchen) so if any if them work the fuse is OK. The circuit is shown on pg 54 of the 2003 Marquis wiring diagram in Coach Assist. Not sure of fuse location but think it is inside the living area. (closet, bath room, etc.). Circuit is labeled #8. There should be about 12 fuses in the panel.

thanks Steve.  The problem is more complicated than I thought.  After looking the schematic, I tried operating the slide out and neither of the front slides moved nor made a sound.  I'll have to see what I can figure out.

MJ,
Suggest you focus on one problem at a time. Do the fans I indicated work or not?? If they don't AND your slides don't function it may be because you have lost 12v in the coach. Then check your battery voltage. Also check to make sure you didn't inadvertently hit the "salesman" switch.

The fans all work.  The bedroom slide works.  The shade on the passenger side side works although the slide doesn't. The 3 shades on the drivers slide out don't work. The 12V lights in the front all work with the exception pf the ones in the drivers side front slide out.  The coach power switch is on.  I read in another post that someone cycled that switch to check on a shade problem and it solved their issue.  I had the ceiling lights on when I cycled it to confirm that it disconnected the coach power and came back on when returned to the on position.  DC Voltage is at 14V.

Sounds like you've got a bad switch(es), motor(s) or 12v isn't getting to the switches or motors. You can verify with the 12v probe or meter.
