2008 Contessa Water Fill Valve
« on: July 19, 2022, 08:07:09 PM »
Yesterday, I placed the water selector valve in the position to fill the tank.  Once full, I returned the valve to the city water position.  Water continued to flow out of the vent all night.  I have cycled the selector valve several times and it feels like it is fully opening and fully closing.  Turning off city water stops the flow from the vent.

Those valves are pretty fool proof, but could it have failed?

   Peter,
Either the valve has failed (not unusual) or the check valve inside the water pump has failed. Fred

Ok...now I have water leaking from under the plumbing bay.  I will need to investigate further.  Does anyone have experience removing the stainless panel (see image)?  Are there service loops on the hoses that come through it?

Thanks.

Peter,
The water may be coming from the water pump bay that is directly behind the water fill bay you referenced. Access to this bay is via a metal plate on the aft side of the passenger side storage bay (3rd bay back from entry door). It is attached to the wall by 4 screws. Suggest you pull that plate to see if leak is from water pump or a related fitting before attempting to pull water bay access panel.

I’ve had issues with my valve continuing to fill the water tank when in the “house” position but it is intermittent. I don’t understand how it leaks since it just seems to be similar to a ball valve. Accessing the Area behind the SS panel is easy with the access panel removed like Steve suggested. I replaced my city water connection from the SS and it was pretty easy but I think the tank fill/house water valve may be more difficult. Please post back what you find.

Pete did you have the water pump turned on during the fill? You might check that the pump is off before you hook up to city water this may reset the check Valve

Peter, we have partially pulled down the stainless steel panel on our 07 Contessa to fix a pex  fitting leak. You can remove the 4  side screws on the sides of the panel and then remove the water fill and pressure regulator by removing the 4 screws and unscrewing the regulator. Then gently pull down the panel to access several fittings . Steve's idea is the best place to start to determine if the pump is leaking and to view the back side of your stainless steel panel.
