Battery Cut Off for House
« on: September 04, 2011, 04:59:40 PM »
We have recently purchased a 2007 Contessa 42 foot. We keep loosing all 115 volt power to the house. We just replaced the relay in the street side rear compartment. With great effort we can get the power back on by wiggling the battery cut off inside the entry door however the light switches in either the bath or bedroom stay lit and do not work.

This has happened while the coach is in motion or while sitting still.

All suggestions based on your experience and knowledge is needed and will be appreciated.

Currently in Traverse City, Michigan.

Dick,

I do not know anything about the wiring in a 2007 Contessa. It may help others who might be familiar to clarify what relay was replaced and why, that was located in the rear compartment.

When you say "wiggle the battery cut off switch", do you mean you toggle it on and off or do you physically wiggle the switch meaning you might have a loose connection on the backside?

You may want to clarify for the lights staying on if they are 120v, 12v, and if they are on a multiplex lighting system or not.

Ed,

Thanks for your guidance.

Lazy Days, Florida replaced the Big Boy Batery Isolator Relay and a fuse holder in the street side back electrcal compartment.

I removed the battery cut off switch inside the front door from the dash. Several wires are connected to the back of this toggle switch. I have wiggled from side to side plus turned the switch off and on several times. The multiplex light swiches will light for five to eight seconds and then the Lights on the multiplex switches go dark. After several tries and when the lights finally come back on one or more of the switch panels in either the bedroom or bath all light but will not operate lights, fans or water pump.

The battery cut off switch inside the front door operates the 120 an 12 volt power to the house including lights, airconditioners and bay electrical devices.

Just had a similar problem with our '06 Thunder. It was the multiplexer module that controls the water pump, fans, Aqua Hot etc. Easy fix by replacing the module but you need to go somewhere that can query the multiplex system via the RS-232 port to confirm that is actually the problem.
