2000 Patriot Thunder Hays E-Brake
« on: September 25, 2024, 02:49:31 AM »
I have been concerned with the E-Brake lately.  The last few trips has left me with fear of rolling.

In researching posts here on the Forum, I used the test outlined, which is on level ground, with the E-Brake engaged, place in Drive, release the service brake and increase RPM's to 1200.  THe E-Brake should hold the Coach.

Well not even close, when I place the Coach in drive and release the service brakes, off we go!  So as they say in Houston, We have a problem!

So what I found out was the brake pads, one at 50 % and even.  One at 15 to 45 %, that pad was wearing at an angle.

When we pulled the brake and tore it down, we found bent and weak springs.

So after replacing all the springs & new pads we are back in business.  It works as it should

Was wondering if anyone else has seen this, by the way the Coach is at 60k mileage.

The wife had been complaining about having to run to the back and Chock the wheels when we stop.

So it was a good repair all around, and much happier wife!
