Silverleaf VMS Replacement Options
« on: May 07, 2026, 01:42:16 AM »
My VMS320EL screen on my 2001 Beaver Marquis recently went out, which left me with no other option than to upgrade. After extensive conversations with the wonderful techs at Silverleaf, I found I had a few options for a plug-and-play replacement:

The VMS500 is the latest iteration, but the screen is small. Although it is nice a nice unit, it means I would have to fill the gap in the dash where the VMS320 used to live. I almost pulled the trigger on the 500, at about $599.00 but after speaking to the techs, they informed me there were other options.

VMS333: This unit requires a separate screen but can be plug and play adapted with a custom harness ($30.00 from the techs at Silverleaf). I believe it only has one video input and one video output and costs about $1000.00.
VMS350: This unit is similar to the 333, but with multiple video ins and outs. Cost $1395.00

Both are viable options, since I can use the newly installed Sony Xav-9500ES head unit with a 10" screen as the monitor. I ended up going with the VMS350.

I also spoke to a company that partners with Silverleaf and installs the Silverleaf Glassdash, which sounds and looks impressive. The full install costs &7000.00 - maybe someday...

Incidentally, I am installing the Victron GX Touch 70 where the VMS320 used to live in the dash. It fits nicely, though it is slightly less wide than the VMS320, the gap can be easily filled. Since the newer Silverleaf products do not support the older technology on my coach for tank and power monitoring, the Touch 70 supplements the newer VMS350 nicely.

I purchased a VMS 500 unit to replace the VMS 200 in my 2001 Monterey.  My mechanic installed it and it turned out very will.  I have not been able to set it up yet as Beaver is still in shop, but went by and took pictures and checked it out.  I have not been able to attach pictures but will if someone can tell me how to or I will be glad to email them.

Hi John,
I went back and forth on which to get as a replacement. I think the VMS500 is good choice, I think the touch screen is more user friendly than the button and dial configuration. I'm looking forward to your pictures!

John, first knock down your pix to less than 300kb each.  I use an app called “Image Compress and Resize” for my iPads to do that, but other means are available for most operating systems.  There is a section off the Home page here under Forum Assistance (Members Only) that can explain posting pictures.  Be sure to use the “REPLY” button under the center right side of the last post here, NOT the “Quick Reply” button bottom left that does not contain the means to add attachments.

My SilverLeaf unit plugs into the USB port of a laptop on my dashboard.  When the Fujitsu laptop got funky I replaced it with a HP unit, downloaded the software from SilverLeaf, and away we went.  Is this a unique situation or do others use a laptop as a display?
