12V fuse panel circuit list is incorrect
« on: November 13, 2011, 03:00:54 PM »
I realize this isn't a big deal, but I was surprised that the fuse listings on the inside of the fuse box cover (and those in my owner's manual) appear to be incorrect with regard to what circuits are covered by each fuse.  I discovered this by accident because I wanted to remove the fuse controlling the under-cabinet lighting circuit that I am having trouble with and which I reported in a previous post.  Joel A had made a valid point about making sure I didn't have a live, but broken, wire somewhere that potentially could be a fire hazard, so I pulled the fuse labeled "Kitchen/Living Room Lights".

Imagine my surprise the other day when I discovered by accident that the circuit in question was alive and the lights were working, despite the pulled fuse.  I immediately made the assumption that a different fuse labeled "living room lights" must be the one so I pulled it--with no affect on the lights!  I did have the best of intentions of pulling each fuse and verifying what it controlled, but now that I have the time for that those same circuits have stopped working so I won't be able to conclusively do the one thing I wanted to do.  How does one prove that a fuse controls a circuit that doesn't work anyway!

Anyway, I wanted to let people know that if they ever need to pull fuses, don't assume the one you want is the one labeled as such.

Hi Joel,

I'll check my panel tomorrow and see if I can see which fuse controls the under cabinet lights..........for what it's worth...

Maybe you could trouble shoot backwards by turning everything on that the panel controls and then start pulling fuses to see what goes off. After you have logged what each fuse controls *hopefully* the one that has no affect will be the one you are looking for....*maybe*

FYI, I got both frig doors. And of course, they fit!!

thanks a million....

Thanks; the way mine are labeled I would have expected #3 to control the under cabinet lights and those over the sofa.  At worst I would have expected #4, but neither is the case.

Good morning,
Fuse #4 controls my under cabinet lights. Top down to #4. It's also stated that way on the inside of the panel cover.
