Rounded shower door on 2001 Beaver Marquis

(1/5) > >>

Richard Cooper:
I'm having a problem with the rounded shower door on my 2001 Beaver Marquis 40JSP.  I am not near my coach now otherwise would take a picture for you.  But the top of the door rides on a rail and the top of the door has 2 rollers.  One of them has a decorative cap missing.  Would be nice to have it match the other one (in gold).

The worst part is the bottom part of the door that glides along some kind of rail there.  There are 2 clasps or I don't know what to call them, but they also keep the door in place and hopefully glides along securely.  Those things are not working correctly.  I have to be extra careful in opening and closing the door or else the entire door can come loose ---- and it's very heavy.

The dealer I bought the coach from tried to repair or tighten up the area.  They didn't do a very good job and I have no confidence in the integrity of this door and the way it glides around the shower to open and close.

Have others encountered this problem?  What is the solution other than to have the entire shower replaced with modern day materials from a bath specialist?

Jeremy Parrett:
Hi Richard,
The manufacturer  of my shower is Cesana.
The top rail on mine actually broke off. There are 2 fittings that slide into the left and right tubes atop the side glass panels that the center tube attaches to.  I replaced these fittings.
The rollers atop the moving door you mention are adjustable.
Behind the covering cap you will find a nut.  If you rotate it the door height will change. This will enable you to raise or lower the door to the correct height so the bottom sliders engage correctly.  The bottom sliders are spring loaded.  Pull them down to swing the door away from the bottom rail for removal.

Edward Buker:
Richard,

These Cesana units are well made but have a couple of issues. The installation needs to be done properly for them to work well and mine was an issue from the factory. Right next to the wall along the edge is a wide plastic strip that can be pulled. If I remember right there are slots to adjust for the wall not being plumb. Basically the track that the rollers ride on, the side panels, and the door itself as it closes has to be square and plumb to each other. There is a small amount of adjustment using the rollers but in my case the adjustment that worked was to get the system to be square and plumb to each other and not the wall. The other issue is that the plastic piece on the top develops "ruts" where the wheels sit while traveling and those can pose issues with smooth operation. I changed that on mine and since the squaring adjustments as well as the replacement of that plastic piece all is now well. If you call Cesana you can get them to email you the install instructions.

Jeremy Parrett:
to avoid the 'ruts' in the plastic strip the door rollers run on always secure the door in the open position.
Use 2 or 3  of those telescopic spring loaded shelf thingies that stop things falling off shelves or out of cupboards when traveling.
The very heavy door  is better supported this way as well.
Compress the shelf thingies and put them between the left vertical door opening and the edge of the door. 2 or 3 will support the door very well.
In 6 months of Baja California roads the door never came loose.
