Slide Hydro Motor

Had the hydralic pump for the front slides and genset fail. Luckily had a good repair guy already in the camp ground. Turned out the manifold on the pump leaked hydro fluid into the pump motor, grounding out the motor. We found about 2 cups of fluid in the motor. Getting the Genset out to replace the pump was a painful process. Had the new pump sent from Bend ($1500).

While installing the pump, the RV guy had a question for Bend, so I called, started talking to the service department explaining the problem and handed the phone to the RV guy. He asked his question and quickly handed me the phone, he told me they told him to call Monaco... WTH? Is this how the new management going to operate? Should I take my business to Monaco?

The problem an extra electrical connector in the bundle that doesn't really connect to anything and a quick swap fix the problem. Kudos the the RV guy... A big Raspberry to Bend's new management. It was great they got the part to me but support really Suks.

I have the old part. Anyone heard of rebuilding one of these?

Sean , I just went through the same problem. You can buy a seal kit and replace the seal that isolates the oil from the motor.  Also while I had it apart, I went ahead and cleaned the brushes on the motor and everything is fine.  I read on this forum that the seal will wear out about every four to five years, depending on use. Good Luck !!!

Sean,

I am sorry you had a bad experience.

I was in Bend yesterday.  There were a lot of motorhomes being worked on and it seemed results were positive.  For a place with a major management change only a few months ago, it seemed to be functioning fine from what I could see and hear.

Sean, could you tell us more about what the question was and why your mechanic was told to call Monaco?

It isn't clear why you were told to call Monaco, but if you are not happy, perhaps you should call or email Ty who is the new owner.

Sometimes we take BCS for granted as the Go To for our questions, I know I certainly do.  They are a motor home dealer and service shop, like anyplace else.  It's just that they are one of the best if not The best.  On occasion they just don't have the answer for certain questions, and then it is common for them to pass the customer on to the coach builder.  And if they are really busy in the shop with paying customer coaches, as other threads here have mentioned that they are right now, it's not unexpected for them to balk at taking technician time to help a paid mechanic from somewhere else.  They don't deserve a raspberry for that, esp given all the other times they've come through big time.

I agree Joel, In all my dealings they have been more helpful than I expected so maybe in this case it was just a really busy time. As I said before I have had them say they would get back to me and they always called back with an answer even if it was, "sorry, but were not sure".

Sorry for the delay to get back on line... been traveling with little time or wifi.
I agree, the BCS has been a good experience for me too, great on getting parts out and normally will answer questions. This time I was take back by the response. The Tech simple asked for clarification on the connections since the part was not exactly like the one replaced when he was promptly told to call Monaco... I cant answer the why he was told to call Monaco, but the dialogue was him asking the question, listening and saying alright then handing me the phone. He then told me he was just told to call Monaco.

Joel, I will say this, as a customer who paid for the part, stranded in ABQ, and a customer who has and would use BCS services, I was greatly disappointed by this referral to Monaco, so I give them a what I think they deserve. My opinion.

@ John, Do you have any more info on the seal kit? Think I might be able to sell the pump unit later?

I have not contacted Ty yet... Just getting back home and from the small amount of responses, this seems to a one off event but will call Ty and talk to him about it.
