Changing TV

Right now I have a 26" Visio installed where the Sony used to go.  The PO did this and it's a fairly neat conversion however it does have some limitations, especially when viewed from the coach as the Sconce and Bose speakers get in the way a bit.

I can add a full motion mount that would allow me to swing it a bit towards the center but I'm also trying to figure out just what is the largest TV I can squeeze in.  The new LED sets are much thinner witch will help and I did find a 27" Samsung that will easily fit as the frame is smaller than the Visio.

I'm wondering if anyone has manged to go much larger in this style Beaver.  I'm sure someone could do a remodel that would accommodate almost anything but I do want it to look good and not be an obstacle that my head would encounter.

Thanks for any thoughts/

Dick

Dick--

We also have a 26" mounted there on an articulated arm that permits the TV to nearly reach to the middle of the coach. The pictures show how the TV is mounted and how far it can be swung across the ccoach

If I were to do it again I'd probably go with a 32" but that is the largest I think can be accommodated without it getting in the way.

We did a similar renovation in our 2002 Monterey. We took out the old Sony and added a 26 inch LED.  We preserved the original trim piece as it adds a "ledge" for the TV to sit on while we travel. A large Velcro strap holds it in place while we are moving.  The swing arm allows a better viewing angle for all seating positions. The two large panels were added to cover the hole. The upper panel easily removes for access to wires, etc.  images are below.  I agree that a 32 inch would have fit, but would have been very tight and more restrictive than the 26 inch.  It would be tough to go higher than 32 inches in that space.  Fun project!  By the way, we replaced the Sony in the bedroom with a 24 inch LED that fits perfectly in the hole where the Sony was located.  We used black speaker cloth to fill the gap at the top.  It looks great.

After my original TV landed on my head on a return trip from Texas, I replaced mine as well. Much lighter unit should it fall again  ;)

Thanks for the info and it does look like considerable thought has been put into your installations.

I've been digging into 32" options and found a couple that just might squeeze in as the width is the limiting factor.  Both of these are close to 29" and by snuggling them up as close as possible might fit.  The TV would not be usable as mounted but using the articulating mount should work???

This Sceptre is the smallest at 28.85 but I've never heard of it so there is some reluctance to try.

This Samsung is 29.1" and may be a bit tighter but it sure looks like a nice unit.

I think this may be a project best undertaken after we finish out summer sojourn.  One home I'll have more time to futz with it.  In the meantime, I'll be at BCS on the 22nd and I may ask them what they have done without getting into extensive cabinetry work.
