Fog Lamp
« on: October 21, 2009, 03:12:30 AM »
We have a 2007 Beaver Contessa. Our LF fog lamp/daytime running light is cracked and inoperable. The number on the lense is H3 633-0003. So far I have been unable to cross that at a local auto parts store. I called beaver Coach Sales and the price was $45 plus s/h. Monaco was $100 (for a pair) plus s/h. Neither of these thrilled me. Monaco said there supplier did not sell retail.

Anyone have any luck replacing this at a local parts house. I found other similar fog lamps for under $20. If so, can you give me a store name and part number.

Thanks, Ken Sar

Hi Joel, here is what I found out. Monaco gave me the manufacturer information (Hamsar Diversco 800-567-5483). They do not sell to retail customers. Their part# is 633-0603a. These particular fog lamps are not available in local auto part dealers. They did refer me to a vendor. They were located in Troy Michigan (Terminal Supply 800-989-9632). The terminal Supply price was $43.82 plus s/h. Beaver Coach sales was $45 plus s/h. No big bargain there. All things being equal I'll give Bend my business.

I just have'nt figured out why Monaco installed all these impossible to find parts other than you have to come get them from them. A fog lamp at any NAPA store is about $12. Go figure.

It's a sealed halogen assembly, but worth $45, I dunno.  So with a little adaptive engineering, we ought to be able to find and retrofit affordable lamps into the holes in the cap.  Which is what I'll likely do if I crack out another lens.  Who the heck ever really uses that pair of lights anyway, so why pay 90 - 100 bucks a set?

I'm not sure the $12 NAPA fog lamps are a power match to the ones we have, which are actually "driving" lamps for added visibility on the open highway;  you know, the ones you hate staring at on oncoming cars.  I think ours are like the 55 watt halogens at this website, where a pair of them can be had for less than $60 and free shipping:  http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/category/headlights_-and-_lighting/driving_-and-_fog_lights.html .   Click on "Driving Light".  Also check JCWhitney.com.  You'd have to make sure any replacement is a size match, of course, and had a useable bracket attached.

Since we are talking lights. Has anyone found a replacement for the dual driving/fog lights that is resonable. My OEM's are shot and the only replacements I have found are PIAA and priced at $240 plus for a pair. They are rectangular.
