RS2000 Inverter F4 Fault code

Help!
My Xantrex RS2000 is sounding an alarm with an F4 fault code, battery over temp and shuts down. I have been plugged in to 110v shore power for about a week. I clear the fault and the alarm comes back after a few minutes. I have unplugged the shore power but the alarm keeps coming back. I have a 4 hour drive tomorrow to get home, anyone have any suggestions?

thanks,

Dean

There is a yellow bolt on probe on one of the house battery posts that says Xantrex on it. That is a temperature probe. If you have an IR gun to measure or just feel the battery and see if it is warm. If you have a bad battery in the bank the extra current being supplied can produce some heat. Check the water levels. If the batteries are not warm and the current and voltage being supplied seems normal then you could just have a bad sensor or the wire contacts where it plugs in to the main unit could be oxidized and need cleaning. If the batteries seem fine and the contacts etc are fine then I would consider buying a new sensor and replacing that unit. If you get the same results with a new sensor then the problem is likely in the main unit.

The main charging system uses that sensor to adjust the voltage and charge rate based on temperature so it is a necessary component.

Oops! Sorry, it's a 2005 Monterey. I unplugged from the shore power last night and it seems to be ok so far this morning plugged back in to 110v shore power but I couldn't get the Xantrex to stop alarming yesterday. Another head scratcher...

To end an alarm that will not reset try this. Diconnect shore power (also generator off) , shut off the house battery switch for 30 seconds and then power it all back up, chassis battery switch first then shore power. This drops all power to the Xantrex board and it starts through its start sequence without a stored fault.
