Huricane Heater

I started the hurricane heat system this cool morning, this was after going through a service.
What I can't remember is:
The valve direction in the engine compartment.
Do they always need to be parallel?

Thanks

If memory serves me that would be yes.

We never turn those valves.  We're almost always in a place where heat at night is nice (try Jasper National Park at any time of year) and there seems little need to keep changing them back and forth.  Sure, if we want only hot water it's a bit less efficient to heat the entire system, but IMHO it's not enough economic difference to be worth bothering about.
