Time to replace Super Slide Seals
« on: July 11, 2014, 12:44:28 AM »
I was up on the roof today getting ready to clean sand and coat it with dicor for fiberglass roof. When I looked at the slide. The large heavy black rubber was half flipped over and half like it was supposed to be so I ran my finger underneath to flip it all the way out and found it was rotten. I called BCS and ordered new seal material and they were suprised I wanted the larger black piece as well. Mike said they rarely sell the black because it is just to keep debris out and usually is not bad. I told him mine was rotten and needed replaced He told me the best they could do was sell me another piece of the bottom seal material. It should work but the white goes over it. so I got both and enough for the side seals as well. I did not inspect the top seal so I am not sure whether the black is attached by screws or rivets If anyone has changed out the top super slide seals I could use some helpful info.

Gary,
If your slide is not leaking, do not replace any of the seals. You will spend a lot of time and money and hopefully end up with what you have now, or maybe create a leak that will take more time to fix.

Gerald the leaks I have now are coming from the roof. I have not seen any leaks from the seals so I will take your advice. I will keep the parts though so I can do it if it should leak. I have an old original equipment sattelite dish I am going to take off and fill the holes. I am bought some new air conditioner gaskets and intend to take the air conditioners out regasket them paint dicor on the roof and re install the air conditioners and the fantastic vents. I intend to clean the roof and light sand it then paint it with a roller. I did the safari and know how it is done. I also have to put another coat on my son's Safari.
