I would like to replace the 4 button thermostat to a 5 button thermostat on my 99 marguis.

It has Dometic A/C's has anyone done this and what is involved?
Thanks

We replaced the mechanical thermostats with the digital when we replaced the 13,500 Dometic AC only units with 15,000 Dometic Heat Pumps in our 1997 Patriot. We can switch from cool to heat from the heat pump or the Aqua-Hot. No new wiring was required. We had it done so do not have a wiring diagram.

Thanks for the reply.  The A/C works fine but the thermostat cuts on and off wiggling the case will turn it back on.
I only want to replace the themrostat and have a hurricane heater that works well.

Tom,

This website has download links to some service and trouble shooting manuals for both the 4 and 5 button Duotherm thermostats. There may be some info in these that may help. http://bryantrv.com/docs.html

Richard, When replacing the A/C with heatpump did you have to run new wires for the thermostat?  (I was told this was necessary)
Did you replace both units?  How well do the work for heat?
What kind of weight difference is there and what kind of cost was incured?
Thanks

Edward, thanks for the info.  I ordered the control boxes from Dometic yesterday and hope to do the install this weekend.
The documents you provided will be a great deal of help.

I will let you know how it works out.

Keith, The job was done by:

   Company
RV Services Unlimited / Mr Front End
Pascal Drive, Punta Gorda, FL   33950
941-505-7757

The service technician did the change out as far as I know with no thermostat wire replacements. He did consult his son who either who told him the proper way to do the hook up. His son I think works or did work with Duo Therm at the time. They are reviewed in rvservice reviews .com. This was done in 2007.
