Command Center Problems
« on: December 29, 2015, 05:51:44 AM »
Being a new owner of a 1992 Beaver Marquis ( and never having owned a Class A Diesel Pusher before) , I am going through an accelerated learning curve ( which is dangerous for a guy who gets more "Senior Moments" than he likes to admit to).  According to my user manual, I have a Digitron 5800 System Command Center.  My Command Center is acting strangely, going by what I am reading in the user manual.  It goes on and off by itself.  I can turn it on and off manually and the different indicators seem to be working ok... but every once in a while, if it's on, it will go off or if it is off, it will come on by itself.  I don't read anything in the manual that says this is suppose to happen.  I was wondering if anyone out there has experienced this and if so, what can be done to fix it.

I have also had an issue where it wouldn't come on at all when i touched the on button...   I was able to correct this by turning off the coach batteries for a short time then turning them back on.  I am guessing this reset whatever computer runs the Command Center ???

Any and all information or suggestions will be gratefully accepted.

Joe,

I have not had this particular problem with my Command Center but have definitely had other electrical issues.  Most of them have been solved simply by cleaning the contacts and making sure the connectors are secure.  It is a time consuming process but so far everything is working properly.

Jack,
When you say clean the contacts, are you talking about contacts somewhere on the control center panel itself or somewhere else????   Joe

Joe,

I started with the Control Center connections using a spray cleaner.   By removing the wire tabs and spraying each side I would attach/reattach each connector until the connection felt solid.  In some cases the tabs needed to be slightly adjusted to keep them from slipping off.  So far that process has worked about 99% of the time and everything seems to be working properly.

:) Thanks Jack... I will definitely try that and keep my fingers crossed.  I'll let you know if I have any success.  By the way, have you ever heard or seen anyone mention any error codes that might come across the command console???

Joe,
Sorry but I am not aware of the error codes.
