Winegard Satellite Dish
« on: June 02, 2016, 11:01:22 AM »
We parked the coach last fall and the TV and Dish network worked just fine.  We had the old 311 Dish reciever and the Traveler dish.

Because the error screen that came up said "complete signal loss" but the Winegard said we had all three satellites we changed to the newer HD VIP 211 reciever.  This had no effect so an email from Winegard said use an external cable directly from the dish to the reciever.  There is still no signal at all, none.
I know the new reciever works because it works fine in the house.

Is there an output circut on the dish that could be bad?  There is apparently communication between the sat. dish and the Winegard controll box but none to the reciever.

Also;  I have been on the hold que with Winegard for two long periods only to finaly get cut off.  I have never spoken to a person there and no one in on the on line chat either though the business should be open.  They did respond to one email.  Do they usualy provide better service than this?

Hi Keith,

Have you done a "check switch" on your receiver? After the check switch procedure you should see "SW 64" on the check switch page. You could go online to fetch a Traveler dish manual to verify the "SW 64" switch for the Traveler. The SW 64 is a Winegard thing.

Several months ago Dish changed their Satellite tracking codes for dishes. Some dishes became obsolete and some could be updated. If Winegard would ever talk with you they could tell you if your dish model # was affected by the Dish change.

Hopefully the check switch process will help you.

You guys going to be in Oregon any time soon?

Phil

Keith...Have you tried to call Geoff Mathews, a Beaver member and owner of Custom Coach Connection.  He's a great person to work with and should be able to straighten your system out.  His number is listed in the Beaver Directory.  Good luck.

Keith,

My experience with Winegard...on hold...is similar to yours. I believe they have an option for you to leave a phone # and they will return the call. Word to the wise on that. They do their call-backs at 4:30 p.m. Central Time, before closing at 5:00 p.m.

Phil I have also been on the phone with Dish and through the check switch proceedure many times.  The Winegard manual says the dish should download the DPP1K2 protocall but there is literaly NO signal.

I will email you about the rest.

God willing we will be at BCS the end of June so I will let Dan have a go at the problem.  Meantime if I get back on the roof perhaps more input will help so I can look him up.

Thanks Stan

I second Mandy's recommendation to call Geoff Mathews as he installs  and repairs Winegard RV Satellite systems and is a Beaver 619-571-3393.
