replace ceiling

(1/2) > >>

rod tomlinson:
1996 Beaver 34 Monterey. I am unable to remove the old water stains on the ceiling in the BR and Living room. Plus, old decorative box around the a/c has been removed. Even Oxiclean doesn't work. Has anyone replaced the cloth ceiling? Links, process and pictures would help.

Thank You

Rod

I tried oxiclean on some minor stains with neg results.  I bought and used some Folex and I was completely amazed!  It took every bit of the stains off my ceiling.  I bought it on Amazon after recommendations here and other forums.  Good luck.

Rod,

I agree with Jerry on using Folex.  We had a stain from leaks over the entrance door from the awning rivets.  After using the Folex, they are gone.  We bought it at our local Lucky grocery store so if you can't wait for Amazon, it is available in in many places.

I've had a lot of luck with a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle.  Just spray it on and let it work.

I did replace my ceiling cover on my 2002 Patriot.  The job was not all that bad.  I replaced the fabric material between the wood slats on the ceiling with the material they use on boat ceilings (Ozite).

Worked great and looked better than the original.  Material cost were about $500.00 and took two of us about a day and 1/2 to complete.  I had a few places that sagged after a couple months.  Just used a wallpaper roller to put back on the ceiling.

My 1997 Monterey had the Ozite material as the original ceiling cover and this would be the same type of replacement for your coach.  They make Ozite in many different patterns and colors, so you may want to use something that contrasts with your current material.

Good luck,
