Cargo door shinny stainless trim
« on: July 25, 2017, 09:25:05 PM »
Hi Beaver owners,

Four of the shinny stainless trim pieces on the bottom of the cargo doors are coming loose along the top edge of the trim.  One piece is completely loose on the top edge. I tried to remove that piece, but it is firmly adhered along the bottom edge. It appears that they are adhered with double faced tape. Is there some type of adhesive that i could reattach this trim, or do I need to remove it and clean both the door and trim before reattaching it? If I have to remove and reattach the trim, any suggestions on what to use to loosen the trim from the door without damaging the paint? What type of double faced tape can I use to reattach the trim? I want to get this repair done before I lose any of the trim pieces. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Sam

You might consider finding some epoxy to squeeze in behind the loosened areas of the trim.  Then try clamping the trim down as best you can.  That trim is pretty thin.  Trying to remove the trim may cause some unwanted bends and kinks that won't come out.  With its mirror-like finish any bends or kinks will show quite well.  Just a thought...

two part epoxy should work ok I would think. I had a cargo door frame that had a weld cracked and it is solid as a rock on it.
