Greg,
I have the Silverleaf VMSpc, installed it on a Windows based HP tablet I bought online for about $300, it has to be a Windows based tablet or laptop. I have an 05 Monterey with the cat C-9, i'm not sure what you refer to as the 'trouble prone regen system'
Once you get the software installed and check their website for any updates, you can create a customized dashboard to your liking. The only glitch I've come across is the odometer gauge doesn't work properly, if at all. There is a ton of different gauges you can set up and it will give you much more information than the Aladdin system did. I got a Ram mount to hold the tablet and set it on top of the dash so I can now have the rear view camera on the Aladdin all the time.
Silverleaf's tech support is fantastic. There is a forum on their website you can sign up for and Art is the man to talk to, he designed the system. If you go on their website, you can see the different installations and also the 'Glass Dash' they have available. That is amazing but it's expen$ive!
I can definitely recommend the VMSpc
