Crusty granular in black tank
« on: July 29, 2018, 05:38:40 PM »
Our black tank has developed a heavy coating of a solid crusty granular substance. Has anyone used Tank Tech struvite removal with any success ?

Bryan,
I've used Tank Tech for the past 2 years and am very happy with it. You'll get best results by filling the tank, adding the required amount of Tank Tech and letting it sit for as long as possible before draining. The other option is to use a tank cleaning outfit. Not sure where you are located but there is a good one in the Kerrville TX area that I had clean our Marquis' tanks.

I switched from Happy Camper to Tank Tech for a  couple of reasons. Happy Camper will form hard "lumps if it is not completely dissolved before adding to the tank. It also didn't help with dirty tank sensors. Tank Tech seems to keep the sensors clean. Also, when flushing the  black tank after dumping it, I would get quite a bit of brown water, requiring me to flush for quite a long time to get it clean. With Tank Tech, you don't have to flush. However when I winterized the coach in Oct. I did flush the tank and the water came out  clear! I've had occasion to do it once since with the same results. Also, no odors regardless of heat or length of time tank is left w/o dumping. I use it in both tanks.

Thanks Steve, I will proceed with purchasing Tank Tech. We are in Canada now and have cleaned the tank with several different tools. Now I am in the prevention mode.

Will Tank Tech work with a Vacu-Flush Toilet? It would have to pass thru the vacuum generator/macerator before entering black tank. Thanks for any input.

Frank,
I don't see why not. It's just a liquid. I add it to the pail of water I dump down the toilet after dumping my tank.
