Anyone Towing a 1974 VW Super Beetle?

Good Morning Folks,

It is the Newby again.  Is anyone towing a 1974 VW Super Beetle?  I have a very nice Resto Mod and am wanting to use it as a towed vehicle.  Is there anyone who has experience in locating and making an attach/hinge point for a tow bar?  I am looking at making a bracket that attaches where the front bumper is now atached, will it be strong enough? I recently purchased a very nice complete Blue Ox tow bar but really believe it to be somewhat of an overkill to pull the 1800 lb vehicle as it is rated at 10,000 lb, any suggestions?

Thanks,

Talk to  http://www.remcotowing.com/ they will advise you even if they cannot sell you anything. I recall that you had to attach a bungee to the steering wheel to make it track properly.

Contact Blue Ox and see if they already have brackets appropriate for your toad. ;)
