1996 Patriot headlight assembly replacement
« on: November 16, 2019, 05:51:40 PM »
Looking for a better headlight assembly recommendations for my 1996 Patriot? I replaced the (1994) original bulbs hoping there would be a big improvement. There was some but I'm thinking that the issue is beam pattern that Ford used on some mid to late 80's trucks.  I have tried to delineate which ones without much success.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you get the SAE code off the headlight lens, you can Google it and there are several sites that will decode it and tell you who (i.e. Ford)  the headlight was made for.

BTW, if your coach has the "Air-over-Hydraulic" brakes can you get a photo of the master cylinder -booster for me. I believe its located on the frame near the left front tire. I'm trying to find out who the manufacturer is.

Jeff,
There are a couple of other possibilities;
-Re-aiming your headlights can improve illumination a lot. Be sure you have coach level and at ride height before doing the adjustments.
-Low headlight voltage. Some coaches only supply 8-9v due to voltage drops in the circuitry. Check out the Dim Headlight fix in the Coach Assist. (Near end of listings)

Mike and Steve thank you for the replies on this issue.
Mike, I'll try and do the the search with the lens  numbers off my phone, good call Mike. Sorry the coach is in Oregon and I'm in Alaska till spring time to get your brake booster brand.
Steve, i'm pretty sure the headlights are aimed correctly but i'll double check that, good idea Steve. I can see the hot hot spot of the head light on low and high but it is so dispersed, very undefined.
