Key pad going crazy and now constant high pitch
« on: June 01, 2020, 12:49:36 PM »
Good morning.

I have been having issues with my key less entry pad. At this point I simply want the high pitch noise to stop by disconnecting it and I don't know how.

No lights on the keypad, but the FOB on my key chain still locks and unlocks the door.

Sounds like someone is holding down a number and instead of a beep, it is 24/7 and it is very early in the morning for my camping neighbors.

Is there a fuse?

Thanks

Try to shut the master off and then reset

Andrew, one more thing to look at even though it is not mentioned very often is the 4 brass spring loaded buttons in the door jamb. They get dirty over time and also come out of adjustment from constantly rubbing and pushing against each other. They transfer power to the lock solenoid to lock and unlock the entry door. Clean with electronic spray cleaner and lube with dielectric grease for smooth operation. The buttons are threaded to synchronize the same height.
Hope this helps, Fred

Andrew - As with most electronic devices that have at least a bit of sophistication, they will have an operating system running in their RAM (Random Access Memory).  When the device's power is completely shut off, its RAM goes dead which clears out the corrupted operating system.  Sometimes for reasons like a power surge or power starvation, whatever the cause can be, the operating system program can get corrupted and confused.  Many times to fix that, turning off the power will force the device to reload a fresh and uncorrupted copy of its operating system from the ROM (Read Only Memory) to the RAM.  IT techs call this powering off and back on "forcing out the Gremlins."

Hi Andrew,
Who is Gary, and what were you told about where the master is, and what to do with it?
Thanks,

Andrew, the master sometimes called the salesmen switch used to shut things down without using the main switch in the back of the rig. This can sometime just shock the system for a reset sorta like reboot your computer it is also going to result in less damage then a good kick
