Cool. I did ask about the wire sizing and Chris said what I had was compatible.

Gerald also recommended the echo system for the same reasons. Something needs to be put in place for the chassis bats.

I'll definitely look into the Network automatic generator start - that sounds very useful.

If your Patriot is like mine the old freedom 20 hung in a bracket between the frame rails in the top of the rear most cargo bay
The bracket was a little bit smaller than the foot print of the MS 2012 but I managed to set it on the outter angle iron rails a d bolt it to that original bracket.
The 2800 watt unit may be even bigger it's worth checking
The 2000 watt MS2012 does everything the old freedom did but better.

  Vittorio,
The Magnum MS-2012 or MS-2812 are both excellent Inverter/Chargers. They are "pure sine wave" so all your current electronics that synchronize to the 60 cycles will love it. Also all new residential refrigerators require it so you don't stress the PC boards. I have installed over 20 of them and never had one fail. Caution if you use the existing RG-9 comm cable that Freedom remote connects to the inverter. I think Freedom uses a "mirror image" plug. Magnum uses identical plugs. The way you can tell is butt the plugs together face to face and see if the wire colors are the same (mirror image) regardless the existing cable has to match the cable that comes with the new magnum remote. Echo charger is great choice for chassis battery support when parked. Hope this helps, Fred

MS2812-20B arrived on Thurs eve. Spent Friday making the shelf 1in wider. Sat was wiring and freshening the house batteries and the worst part was wiring the BTS. Plugged everything in and voila! Everything is working as it should. I also bought the AGS (automatic Genset starter) that will come in next week.

So, thanks for the input...on our way to a fully functioning rig!

Glad it is working for you!.
I'm considering an upgrade like this too (from my Xantrex 2012 to a pure-sinewave Magnum).

Have you confirmed that the factory cable size is sufficient (i.e. 4/0 AWG) to support the "larger" 2812 model?

If your Coach, like mine and came with a 2,000W inverter, the factory wire gauge may be too small to swap in a larger unit (like a 2,800 or 3,000 W) without the risk of overloading the wiring if maximum output was sustained for a long period.

Mike, I swapped out the original 2500w xantrex inverter for the Pure sine wave SW2012, as the swap to my new residential refig required a PSW inverter. The 2000w PSW inverter won't overload the existing 3/0 wiring and 350a fuse, and I can't imagine needing the extra 50% capacity of the SW3012 inverter.

Hi Bill. I see you already addressed this (cable size) a few posts back. Sorry I skimmed the thread too fast and missed that post.
When you did your swap you stayed in the same wattage range as the invertor you replaced, but Vittorio, I believe is going from a 2000W to a 2800W inverter (although I'm not sure what size inverter he is starting with). Going from 2000W to 2800W is a 40% increase, so he should check his cable sizes.

Absolutely check cable and fuse size when going to a larger inverter. We actually downsized ours a bit, from 2500 to 2000. 2000w is plenty for us, we never use the inverter, except now when driving to keep the fridge on.
