Technical Support / Barker electric waste valves
« Last post by Preston Nash on May 11, 2025, 04:24:45 PM »
I have the original Barker Auto Drain waste valves from 1999.  The electrical function of the valves works perfectly, but the black valve leaks.  I would like to change out both valves while I'm in there.  My question is: Do I need to replace the entire system including the electric openers, or can I replace the valve part with a new valve (Valterra or whatever) and keep the existing electric opener.  Will a new off the shelf valve work with the auto opener?  I really need to have the correct parts in hand before I dive into this so I can repair it all at once.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Post my post, I determined that it was a coolant line, even though it appeared to be coming from a hydraulic line. We networked around in the area and got PJ from PJ Family Truck Repair to come out. He was awesome, and got us back up and running in about 4 hours. As has been mentioned by others, he recommended having all our hoses replaced given the age of the coach. I'll need to explore having that done when we get back home.

Hello everyone. We have a 2000 Patriot and looking for the correct front brake pads. How do I identify the correct application for our coach. Or, does anyone have the listing for the front brake pads?  Thank you for any information you can share.

Radiator-The theory still stands (or may be modified) if you want something done you have to do it yourself!
I am going to pull my radiator myself, Mechanic got scared , will need to keep looking for one.
If anyone has done this and has advice, tricks or basic simple steps to the project?, I would greatly appreciate it.
Anything special about the charged air cooler? I am assuming I need to pull it
Maybe I can get her ready for next years rally , dont think I will make this year. still running hardwood flooring through out.

As far as I know, all the hoses on our coach were original to its manufacture date - 2003.  A few years back, we had a coolant hose with a small leak.  It was replaced in Las Vegas.  I had planned to get all the hoses (oil, coolant, air boots, etc.) inspected then, but forgot to schedule it.  My guess is that exposed hoses should be inspected every five years or so, and replaced at 15 years just because they're old.

In my prior message on this thread, the tech's total mileage was 282; Payette is about 86 miles from Jordan Valley.  At $2.50 per mile; that's nearly $700 for all the miles.  The labor charge was $175 per hour for 7.5 hours... 5 of those 7.5 hours were travel time!

As I said, get out the credit card!

Looks like all posters had rigs made post 2002. Does line failure happen on pre 2002 also.

Try Peterson cat in Redding CA or Medford ore they fixed our blown hose 2 yrs ago. They also added two chafed guards to protect the hose.
