Title: What did Beaver use on the Entry Steps?
Post by: Mike Shumack on March 18, 2018, 06:18:01 PM
My Beaver has some sort of outdoor carpeting on the entry steps.
It doesn't look very nice and I need to replace it with something fitting a high-end coach.

What did the factory (Beaver/Monaco) use on these steps?

Ours came with a tan rubber like material with round bumps on it.  We replaced it with ceramic floor tile.

I believe our steps to be the original material.  Ours looks identical to yours without the carpet attached - that being the same black, long wearing, plastic/vinyl material showing as on yours.  It appears to me that on your steps a PO simply glued the carpeting on the top of each step.  Without the carpeting on ours, we simply use a brush/vacuum to clean the entry steps.

I think David’s right... that looks like the same stuff I bought in a roll at auto parts stores years ago, or Camping World.  It wasn’t “high end”.

Is this the stuff Beaver used?

I wouldn't mind using ceramic tile on the steps but I don't have enough spares (matching the kitchen tile) to do the steps.
If I was to find something close, what would I use to glue it down (tile mastic or something more flexible)?

We had new ones made to match our new carpet when it was installed. We still didn’t like the fact that it showed dirt so quickly so we removed the carpet and Velcro that was used to attach it and went with the flooring underneath it. It’s the corian type product that’s throughout the coach with a rubber type material in the center of each step. Hubby polished it all up nicely and I added a small rug at the top of the stairs. Hope this helps.

Mike,
The treads you referenced is the material used in some coaches as delivered.
