Title: 2000 Beaver Patriot Thunder parking brake pads
Post by: John Hughes on April 24, 2021, 10:04:38 PM
I am a new owner of a 2000 Beaver Patriot Thunder 40'. I have been getting it ship shape. My pinion seal was leaking and found the cause was worn pinion bearings in the differential. I put a a rebuilt one in and want to replace the parking brake pads while the caliper is removed. The only info I can find here is from the Beaver coach company in OR. Are there any others who make replacement pads for us?
Thanks, John 8)

John, The brake pads are just truck pads, find the mfg of the calipers and probably most any truck parts house will have the pads. Or take the pad to a truck parts or shop and they can ID the pads.

Thanks, I was hoping it would be that simple. I have been to Kenworth, Freightliner and several truck parts supply stores. The best they could do was have my pads re-bonded with new frictions. The pads have no markings and the caliper only has a few casting numbers that have not been any help.

John, Do a search on this forum for 'brake pads' as this subject has been covered before. And be sure to post what you find!

If you have the casting number off the caliper a good truck parts store  should be able to identify the manufacturer and model off caliper and pads. Or you could match them on the internet.
Hope this helps

Is this a drum brake or a disc brake which is spring actuated and air released.
If you could get us some pictures of the caliper and the pads as well as the actuator we may be able to help you out.

No luck yet finding the brake manufacturer
Maybe a picture of two of the caliper would help.

I remember years ago a drive line brake in a trenching machine that looked something like that.
It was a Ditch Witch but I don't know how produced that brake assembly
Here is a link to the Ditch Witch brake pads

John, When you get the pads let us know who makes them and the number for the next person who has to replace pads on a 2000 PT.

After a lot of investigation I discovered your parking brake caliper system was built by Hayes brake and is listed in the agricultural products as a mechanical parking brake caliper part number is Hayes M100LM.

Hope this helps
