Sigbert
By the sounds of things you have a striped drive coupler in the front accessory drive housing
If you PM me your email address I can send you a PDF of the Detroit service manual to work from

Sigbert
You should find the section in the manual starting at page 144 explaining the front accessory drive and how to remove the water pump and drive housing.
You may have to go that deep to get to the drive coupler and receiver .
While your in there make sure to clean out any pieces and remains that could cause problems in the future a good flush and oil change might be in order as well.

The splined shaft is directly behind the accessory pulley and will require the housing to be removed

Hang in there, Sigbert!  Good Sam has not always been the best at passing on to the tow company all the necessary info., and it should've been in front of them on your account page when you called them.

After this adventure, consider moving to SafeRide Motor Club, available through some insurance vendors such as Overland, or I believe FMCA.
