Title: How to manually retract front roadside slide
Post by: Michael Bacon on March 30, 2024, 12:18:19 AM
Main slides aren’t functioning. There appears to be no power for either slide. So trying to figure out how to manually retract roadside slide.
Thanks
Mike

The answer depends on what type of slide mechanisms you have.  My '06 Monterey has hydraulic mechanisms on all 4 slides. If yours are hydraulic, you have to open the "T" handle on the hydraulic manifold to release the pressure in the hydraulic line to that slide and then "push" the slide in manually.  The only time I have had to do it, I did not have any husky men to push, so I used a come-along across the windows on the inside and "pulled" it in.  If yours are electric motor mechanisms on gears, most of those have HEX heads on the ends of the drive shafts to be wrenched in.
Good luck.
Richard

Mike,
The process is described on page 116 of your Owners Manual. Coach Assist has a copy if you don't have the one for your coach.

Thanks for your responses.

Steve, I’ve reviewed the manual, it suggests the pump is in the “curb side bay”, I’ve looked in the bays and can’t find it.? Thoughts.
Thanks Mike

Check in front of the steps. I believe there is a relay switch on the pump motor itself. If it fail's, none of your hydraulic slides or the generator slide will work. You can jumper the two big terminals to bypass the switch to see if the pump motor will run. If that’s the problem, you can source a new relay switch at any trailer dealer as they use them on dump trailers. Hope this helps, good luck.

If it is in the same place as the 07 Pacifica, look above the AquaHot toward the fromt of the coach.

I located an old thread referencing my situation, and it appears the “reset switch” is in the generator slide. As you can see in the attachment this gentleman “ bled the hydraulic line” to get the generator slide open. My question is how do I determine which line is the hydraulic line. I’m not very mechanical, and have difficulty determining these things.
As always thanks for your assistance!

I would check the relay switch on the pump motor before messing with hydraulic lines. There will be two big terminals that need to be jumped on the switch. If the pump motor runs while jumped, then the relay switch is most likely bad. Also, there are two small terminals on the relay switch, one is the trigger terminal, the other goes to ground. The trigger wire terminal should have 12 volts when pushing any of the retract/extend buttons inside coach. When pushing any of these buttons, and there still is no power at trigger terminal, then problem is upstream from relay switch. Hope this helps.

Frank,
Thanks for your quick response and suggestions. Unfortunately the hydraulic pump is housed in the generator slide which is tied fo the two main slides and won’t open.

You may have to access it from underneath. Challenging, but doable. Good luck.

Mike, attached pictures show what the hydrolic pump looks like and a picture of the breaker bar that needs to be reset by pressing it back into the center of the breaker. As previously stated this is on a 07 Contessa so not sure if our location of above the aqua hot will be as your coach is configured. Can you or a mechanic crawl under your generator to spot your breaker close to your hydrolic pump

Bryan
Thanks for the pictures! Seems odd they place my (our unit was built in 2007 - titled and sold in 2008) pump in a different location. By the way was this information in your owner's manual?

Unfortunately, there isn't much clearance under the generator bay. My try to drive up on some wood blocks.

Thanks again,
Mike
