Title: Driverside Front Awning
Post by: Sean Donohue on July 11, 2012, 06:48:57 PM
I have been having problems with the Carefree awning rear cap coming loose and disengaging the spring from the roller. I keep an eye on it and took it apart this week. I noticed the two Large bolts (1/4 x 1 1/2") thread thru the cap and into a channel on the metal cover, but the metal cover channel has no threads and is either 5/32" or greater... in other words the bolt simply slides in and out without touching anything... Is this correct? I am looking for a rubber sleeve to glue in there so a bolt would one have something to grip while the bolt will expand into the channel to be more secure.

Anyone else having this issue? What were your repair ideas.

This is a link to Carefree technical documentation that should hopefully shed some light on how the unit is supposed to work.
