Title: Water Leaking out of FreshWater holding tank enclosure
Post by: Denis Casserly on February 01, 2020, 11:02:22 PM
Hi All, my coach is 1989 Beaver Marquis. When I  fill the fresh water tank it begins to drip out a 1/2" diameter,  2" long stub of Qwest tubing when it is at 1/4 full of water. It's leaking at the rear end of the tank. I searched for a dump valve and found a 1 1/2" ABS pipe connection on the front end of the tank, which is looking down to a black T handle gate valve. The pump suction line also appears to go through the front side of the enclosure and it wrapped into 3" diameter bundle ( traced ) to help prevent freezing.
I'm trying to get a handle on what to expect when I drop the tank to do repairs. From what I've noticed this entire coach is piped in Qwest polybutylene tubing which is a ticking bomb past the 30 year mark. I'm keen to repipe with PEX but am uncertain of the uncharted waters of the tank. The rest of the work appears to be straightforward and can be accessed easily.
Would anyone know if I'm overlooking the cause of the present water leak?  The coach inside is dry, no leaks... yet.
Has  anyone had occasion to drop a fresh water tank in a 1989 Beaver Marquis? Any suggestions are welcome.
cheers,
