Title: Propane & CO detectors
Post by: Fred Brooks on August 14, 2020, 03:27:17 PM
     Greetings folks,
This is one of those topics that we have a tendency to overlook because they are almost out of sight and rarely have to deal with. I am just trying to share with you that they have a life expectancy of about 5 years. After that the sniffer becomes poluted. If you read the owners manual or the back of the device, it will tell you when to change it. Just a fun fact, the propane detector is in the business of detecting hydrocarbons. If your favorite dog passes gas in the middle of the night and he sleeps near this device be prepared for a false alarm! FYI and have fun best you can despite all the fear, Fred

Thanks for the reminder, Fred. Our detector works: the other day, the wife tried out her new sunscreen, alcohol-based. It set off the detector!! Different alarm sound than the "Dinner's Ready" alarm, I mean smoke detector.

Follow science, not fear. Enjoy!
