Title: Portable Solar
Post by: Mark Bodenhamer on December 12, 2020, 03:43:13 PM
We have a 130w portable solar panel that we used with our travel trailer, it has a built in controller.  I'd like to use it but with our four battery setup I don't know where to connect it.  Can someone please help me out.  Thanks for your time.

Just hook it up to your battery bank, on the same terminals that lead to house loads. Use alligator clips like you find on a battery charger. 130w = about 6.5 amps trickle charge in full sun. I wouldn't want to haul around a fragile, awkward solar panel, but, each to his own...

Mark, sounds like you are uncomfortable determining the correct terminals to connect your solar panel. I have attached  photo to show a typical 4 battery 6 volt connections and where to connect your positive clip and negative clips for your solar panel. Suggest you use your multimeter to test connections and get acquainted with 4 - 6 volt batteries with 2 batteries in series and 2 batteries in parallel. Hope this helps.
