Title: Fuel Priming Pump Install
Post by: Christian Fish on March 24, 2021, 04:07:05 PM
I’m getting ready to install the Fuel Priming Pump and I need to know the od & id of the yellow plastic fuel line because I am going to add a fuel shutoff valve. Heading back to the CAT dealer to buy the wiring kit that wasn’t included with the pump.

The crimpon pins for the wiring connector are not included in the kit because they come in different sizes depending on the gauge of wire you will be using.  You will need to tell the CAT parts guy what gauge of wire you will use so he can get the right pins from the parts bin.  I did not know what wire size came with the Smakn DC converter, so I purchased 3 sets of pins from CAT so I would not have to return a second time to the CAT dealer.  I think (if memory serves me correctly) the wires on the Smakn were 16 gauge, but don't quote me on that.  Good luck on your install.  My CAT C9 400 HP has run flawlessly since installing the primer pump (and replacing the plastic fuel line connectors).

Christian,
Check the Common Problems writeup on the installation. The parts list shows the Parker Davis part #s for the fuel line hookups. You can get the ID/OD from those part #s.
