Title: Removal of 10,000 Onan Basement Generator to replace radiator.
Post by: Brian Nolf on August 19, 2021, 12:50:40 AM
Hi Everyone !
I just found a leak in the radiator on my ONAN 10,000 diesel generator. It's in the basement of my 2000 Beaver 42' Marquis Amethyst . Does anyone know of a shop in the Eastern, PA area that can lift my rig up and remove my generator. I'm almost positive it has to come out the bottom. Thanks in advance for your help :-)) The Radiator looks BAD from underneath!!! It Started leaking around the drain plug. I removed the plug and put a new O ring on it and reinstalled it. It just got worse. Drained and flushed the whole system about 50 hours of use ago. Was working fantastic. HELP !!

Since Cummins owns Onan, what about contacting the Cummins shop northeast of Pittsburgh?

Brian,
I seem to remember the shop got mine out by removing the bay door and then jacking the geni up a bit so they could get fork lift bars under it.

    Brian,
I just went and measured my 10K Onan. Steve is correct. If you look inside the compartment, you will see 2 "fish plates" that hold the bottom of the compartment opening together. You will have to disconnect the electrical at the J-box and maybe the fuel lines and the exhaust. Hope this helps, Fred
