Title: Cruise Control Issue
Post by: Bob Disney on September 03, 2022, 03:50:56 PM
Our cruise control stopped working
I believe it is the sensor that kicks the cruise off connected to the brake pedal
My question is is that a separate sensor, as the brake lights function correctly
The problem started after a panic stop when the brakes were hit extremely hard a couple of times. There is no other problem and nothing is broken except the cruise stopped
I crawled under the dash, looked around and don't know really what I'm doing
I'm fairly capable, but this is just not in my wheel house
Any help would be appreciated.

Bob

Bob,
Cruise senses brake status at the brake light switch. The 2005 Monterey wiring diagram for CC is unreadable but I'd check the following;
  - good crimp where CC sense wire ties into brake light switch line. (should be near brake light switch).
  - relays K4 and K19 in front elec bay.
I tried to refer to the 04 and 06 diagrams but they are different from the 05.

Thanks for trying to help Bob, Steve.

I might ask that if any member reading this has the 2005 Monterey Wiring Diagrams, that they forward a copy to Steve so he can replace the poorly resolved pages currently in Coach Assist, like pages 51-53 and others.  If needed, Office Depot can scan and digitize copies in 10-15 minutes, either of the whole book or just certain pages, at very reasonable cost probably including the FMCA discount.  That’s how I contributed my ‘06 version a few years back, and ODepot included loading it on an inexpensive thumb drive I got while there.
