Title: Chassis batteries phantom amp draw
Post by: Fred Brooks on December 22, 2022, 01:57:20 AM
I thought I would share this with those who have a similar coach with the same driver's side consol. These 4 relays control the backup camera and monitor. They draw appromately 1-amp and are energized if the switches (circled in the photo) are left ON even though the ignition key is turned off. Just another hidden phantom chassis battery draw. Fred

Fred
I know this is inconceivable but maybe during assembly someone messed up and connected them to the wrong power source.

You could possibly rewire the relay 12v feeds for  those relays to the ignition source instead of the constant 12v power
It wouldn't be too hard to run a new wire straight down to the electrical bay from there and connect to the ignition buss bar with an appropriate sized breaker.

Thanks, I could rewire it to a chassis feed ignition hot, but for now I just turn the switches off when I park it. I discovered it quite by accident. When I installed the vinyl planking floor, I picked them up and they were all warm to the touch. Then I figured out what they were for out of curiosity. I just thought I would share it for those who want to know. Fred
