Title: Carling Rocker Switches - how to clean them>
Post by: Don White on February 10, 2023, 05:39:24 PM
Hi,

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to clean the internal contacts under the actuator cap?  I been thinking about removing the switch from the dash panel, unplugging it from the wiring harness and spraying it with a contact cleaner like CRC QD Contact Cleaner.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Don,
Check the part#. If it is one listed here https://www.carlingtech.com/rocker-switches-sealed it is a sealed unit so cleaning is not an option. I've never run into a dirty one, but maybe I've been lucky. In any case, be careful when removing the cap as the side clips are fragile, especially when they get old.

Use this tool to remove the actuator rocker cover from the original switch, you can then install it on the replacement switch. Works well and helps prevent breakage.
