Title: Add 3rd a/c to coach
Post by: Bill Lampkin on August 15, 2023, 12:08:35 AM
103f in Redding, 80f inside the coach. Anyone add a 3rd a/c unit to their coach? I know ours is pre-wired so running power is no issue. For those with a 3rd a/c, how well does it cool on a day like today?

Bill,
We've got 3 ACs on our 42 ft unit w/4 slides. We had no problem keeping the interior cool in the AZ heat when we lived there. However, we also had all windows tinted and used exterior sun screens over the windshield, driver and pass front windows.

What service has been done to your A/C’s?  10 years seems to be the age for updates on these.  On our 1st coach the roof air cooled about 15 degrees until I cleaned the evaporator and fan etc..  The test read 30 degrees drop right after that. You would not believe the amount of sand etc. that came out.  Did the same on this coach but sadly the circuit board got wet and the startup cap fried.  Heads up there.
The front air is original and it draws 13 amp or slightly more at startup and 11 steady.  The new penguins draw about 1/3 less.  All are 15000 btu and heat pump.

Ac are 2 years new, just had both cleaned. Two AC's just don't cut it when temps are 100+
