Title: Recommendation for replacement Roof A/C
Post by: Jerry Ward on August 31, 2023, 11:47:04 PM
We have a 2008 Beaver Contessa with 3 Roof A/C's. The front one is weak and doesn't cool well and the middle one trips a breaker if the weather gets very hot.  I would like a high efficiency replacement and had planned on getting a Furion but was told they would not work with the furnace or the heat pump.

TIA

We had to replace our 2 roof ac units a few years ago. Dometic penguin ii, much quieter. You will have to replace your stats w/ new ccc 10 button stats.

And one problem may be that replacing one AC unit requiring a newer thermostat could also mean the remaining older AC’s won’t jive with the new thermostat.  In other words you may be up against replacing all your units plus all thermostats, unless the zones can be separated.  But then you’d have non-identical thermostats, so it’s cost vs. consistency I reckon.

I would recommend changing your thermostats anyways. Especially if you are replacing 2 roof a/case. We installed the MicroAir thermostats and have never looked back.
