We recently starting having an issue with our fresh water system. I'm not sure if they are related or not. When running the water pump we are getting water backflowing through the city water connection hose. Separately when connected to city water the auto fill does not shut the water off resulting in water coming out the overflow. Both are problems that we have not had previously. Any ideas?

check the valves to the outside shower
if you were using it and shut down the water at the shower head instead of the hot/cold valves you could be back flowing through your system
Same with your shower head on your inside shower IF there is another shut off valve inline on the line after the faucet nobs

Sounds like two separate issues
1) there is a check valve and pressure regulator built into the city water connection it sounds like the check valve is failing to prevent back flow.
2) the red hat valve is responsible for filling the fresh water tank if it doesn't close the tank will over fill and water will run out the overflow/vent

Bill,
Assuming that your coach is equipped with a power water hose reel you won’t have a standard city water connection with a built-in check valve. Open the access door inside the wet bay, look to the right of the hose reel and you should see the freshwater check valve. I’ve attached an image showing the location on our PT.
Another thing to consider, if your coach has the full version Aladdin (shows the status of the freshwater tank) the autofill function uses the tank fill level to know when to shut off. Are your tank level readings accurate? If not, you will need to recalibrate your tank levels. When using the autofill, you should see an ‘AF’ indicator on the freshwater status line, does the freshwater tank continue to fill after the ‘AF’ indicator turns off? If so, then your problem is likely as Eric explained.
