Title: Re: onan genset
Post by: Randy Keaveny on August 14, 2024, 09:08:30 PM
Hello to all.  Followed the advice of members here on my onan genset.  Disconnected return line. Primed.    Full of air bubbles.    Disconnected supply side  put new line into fresh fuel tank.  No air. Runs great.   Reconnected old supply and same result air bubbles.   So. Now the dilemma of finding where the lines come out of the tank ??  I found the connection. And return for the diesel heater  so. Am hoping they.  The heater lines  are not inter connected and will cause a problem  as I have disconnected the supply and return lines from genset  and plugged off.   So.   Where and how do I get to the supply lines from the tank ???

Thx.

Those fuel lines run to the front on top of the fuel tank and can be accessed from the front by lowering the front of the  fuel tank .
I've sent you a PM with some details.

got your messages...thanks so much...I am back home now...disconneted the feed and return lines and capped them off....my plan is to use new hoses on an external tank and run it when needed...kind of a pain...but.  I know it runs like it is suppose to....so now to find a cap with a supply.  and the return in the same cap

thanks

Randy

Randy,

Tipping the fuel tank forward is not that bad of a job to get to the top where the fuel lines go in. You don't have to remove the tank, just loosen everything up.  I found that a motorcycle jack made it a pretty easy and safe job.

I only had to let it down about 4 inches to get to the fittings and replace the lines.  Hopefully this will help you some.
