Title: 2006 Monterey Laguna 4
Post by: Mark Hoovler on August 20, 2024, 09:47:41 PM
The oil pressure gauge on the dash quit working, shows zero PSI oil pressure.  The digital oil pressure gauge on the Aladdin works fine.  Are they tied into the same pressure transducer?

Thanks Mark

Mark,
The Aladdin gets it's info from the engine ECU while the dash gauge receives it from a separate sending unit on the engine. It should be located near the oil filter. Goggle  CAT C9 Sensor Locations for some helpful utube videos. Also, check the connetcion at the dash gauge itself.

The sending unit for the dash gauge is mounted on the passenger side of the engine about in the middle front to back and about halfway up.  It was easy to change after I removed and moved all the stuff in the way (from under the bottom).  If yours is the 3 pin version with the 3 pins in a triangular configuration, then it should be this one:

I would recommend you visually verify before ordering a replacement.  The part # is printed barely readable on the black bakelite portion of the sensor.  Good luck.

I believe Mark is dealing with an issue with the dash mounted oil pressure gauge which has its own sending unit the sensor you have a link to is for the Cat engine ECM which the Aladin system gets its information from via j1939 serial stream from the engine ECM.
In most of these coaches ( not all ) there where two analogy oil pressure gauges one in the dash for the drive and another in the service bay, each gauge required its own oil pressure sending unit .
In the older coaches Beaver set them up with a flexible hose that ran from the side of the engine out to the passenger side frame rail where they had it mounted with a tee fitting and two sending units one for the front one for the rear.
On other coaches when they did not use a rear oil pressure gauge they mounted a single oil pressure sending unit on the side of the engine where they would have connected the hose for the previous set up.
Either way you are looking for a sending unit like the one in this link ( you should be able to get one at NAPA )

Hope this helps
