Title: Inverter I

My ProSine inverter has failed. What inverter have others installed and are you happy with the performance of your new inverter?

In January 2016 we had a Xantrex Freedom SW3000 inverter/charger installed by RVMD in Tucson.  It has worked fine.  The cost was $3,500 installed.

Most here on the Forum will likely vote for installing a Magnum inverter.  At least, in my years of reading here, Magnum inverters seem to have been more widely preferred.

Roy,
I replaced my modified sine wave with a pure sine wave inverter for our residential reefer in 2021. Got a Magnum MS 2021 for $1360 from iMarine but just checked and found they don's show any Magnum products now and current pricing is in the $1650+ range. You can probably get a modified sine wave unit for less $ if you don't need a pure sine wave output. Seems like we see more Xantrax than Magnum issues on the Forum.

Ditto on Steves reply. As technology marches on, all peripherals that require 120 volts also are engineered for Pure Sine Wave for their logic. PC boards hate modified sine wave. Fred

My Magnum MS2012 has been in the shop twice, but only because a @#* squirrel set up shop in the bay during storage, attracted no doubt by the heat atop the inverter.  So it's only failure(s) was due to "outside" influences... or in-fluidses.  It's been a great machine and seems to be one of the more popular models.

Online prices vary - it's even on Amazon at a higher price than most, but maybe with free shipping, a consideration given its weight.  Steve's right, they're around $1650, but I saw one for $100 less and free shipping - it's a model 2000, and you'd have to ferret out the differences between that and the more expensive one we're referring to, the MS2012.

Keep in mind you will want to get a congruent Remote to match it.  Today's Magnum Remotes are more capable than our 2006 year one, and can handle such upgrades as lithium charging, etc.  You'll need to pencil in a couple hundred more for the Remote, probably depending on model.

Example site:
https://www.donrowe.com/Magnum-Energy-MS2000-p/ms2000.htm?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_oVy8daXxltBkeRbctRJ7_EVmVa&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrp-3BhDgARIsAEWJ6Syt05BO7MJCWTiCIreEhtaHtW-SoVUp44S8_pTvnIUdUJeHzfjhhwEaAqCnEALw_wcB

Search further there for an MS2012, and a Remote.

I do have to add that Magnum's telephone customer service is very good.  You usually have to wait in queue for awhile, sometimes a very long while, but when you do get on you get their full attention and they are knowledgeable, friendly, understanding of your situation, and do their best to help.  It's a rather involved device, so having someone analyze an issue and explain possible causes and fixes in an understandable way is value in itself.  Mine had to go to a local shop for service (I was fortunate to have one), but I could converse with the tech intelligently after Magnum's input.  The manufacturer is Sensata Technologies.
